Attempted child kidnap in Vecindario not linked to Yeremi Vargas

A 39 year old man had tried to force an 11 year old girl into a van on Monday night

The Guardia Civil have ruled out any relation between a man arrested in Vecindario on Gran Canaria and the disappearance of local boy Yeremi Vargas.

A Civil Guard spokesman said the 39 year old man, named with the intials D.M.P. had tried to kidnap an 11 year old girl last Monday night in the town, trying to force her into a white van, but the child had ran off home where she told her mother what had happened.

The man was arrested on the Tuesday and granted bail by the judge on Thursday.

The Central Operations Unit of the Civil Guard Judicial Police have investigated the case to see if there is any link to Yeremi Vargas, the seven year old who vanished on March 10th this year, but ‘for now’ no link has been found.
